Advanced Asset Management
Making Complex Simple

— In large connected organizations, visibility over your network isn’t optional — it’s critical. While working with TeamViewer, I redesigned the Advanced Asset Management experience and integrated Lansweeper’s discovery technology into the platform. As a Product Designer at Mindera, I collaborated with the Remote Management team to shape end-to-end workflows and translate complex technical data into a clear, intuitive experience within the existing Asset Management ecosystem.

Project Overview
Transform TeamViewer into a complete solution for asset and network management, delivering clarity, usability, and actionable insights, while integrating with Lansweeper and considering technical and user adoption constraints.
The project aimed to integrate Lansweeper’s asset and network discovery capabilities into TeamViewer, allowing IT admins to automatically detect devices, manage inventories, monitor vulnerabilities, and get a clear network overview — all within a unified platform.
Lansweeper’s existing interface — functional but rigid — served as a starting point. The challenge was to adapt its workflows to TeamViewer’s design system, technical limitations, and user expectations. Many long-time TeamViewer customers were used to older, more “system-like” layouts, so every decision needed to balance familiarity, clarity, and modernization. A Freemium version was also designed, allowing new users to try key AAM features like Network Discovery with limited functionality — a strategic move to support adoption and product growth.
Approach
Prior TeamViewer and Lansweeper UI dashboard
The approach combined reference + adaptation: studying Lansweeper’s structure, identifying what could be reused, and redesigning what needed to fit TeamViewer’s platform rules and technical constraints. The goal was always to make a complex tool feel simple, consistent, and native.
Work included mapping flows, prototyping interactions, testing early concepts, and constant alignment with engineering and product managers to ensure feasibility while improving usability. It was an iterative process of translation, refinement, and simplification.
Process
By combining research, prototyping, and collaboration, we delivered a functional, user-friendly solution that integrated Lansweeper logic with TeamViewer’s platform, while preparing for smooth user adoption.
We started with ecosystem analysis, followed by flow definition, wireframes, and UI explorations aligned with TeamViewer’s design language. Multiple rounds of iteration helped refine how Lansweeper’s data would appear inside TeamViewer without overwhelming users. A Freemium onboarding journey was created to introduce new users gradually and reduce friction.
The new AAM turns powerful technology into intelligent design, giving IT administrators full control in a seamless and intuitive way.
Final Design
The final design balances power and simplicity, featuring intuitive dashboards, clear visualization of devices and vulnerabilities, and real-time updates to support IT admins’ decisions.
The final design effectively presents a complex asset and network management system through clear, intuitive layouts, real-time inventory, and guided experiences for new users. The freemium/demo version allowed users to explore the tool safely, accelerating adoption despite initial resistance.

The project delivered a powerful and intuitive asset management experience, integrating third-party services while remaining fully native to TeamViewer’s ecosystem. Selected Achievements: First release of the new Advanced Asset Management (AAM), including the full Network Discovery feature and Lansweeper service integrations — launched in December 2023. Designed and iterated the Freemium trial flow, enabling users to explore key AAM features like Network Discovery and Asset Inventory with no time limit, accelerating adoption and reducing friction for new users.
Despite initial resistance from long-term users familiar with the older interface, once the new integration and workflows were released, adoption grew rapidly. The new experience helped consolidate asset management, reduce tool fragmentation, and provide clearer, more actionable visibility across IT infrastructures.
